How To Make The Best Out Of Your Morning

You wake up an hour before you have to leave for work and  let yourself 10 more minutes of sleep. You get up, get dressed, drink your coffee and head to another day at work or other personal beusiness, and you still can´t figure out how to accomplish more in your day.

If you want to achieve more during the day, i´ts time to do some morning routine changes. The brain functions better after a good night sleep. So morning is the perfect time to boots your energy levels for a full day os tasks.

Successful people talk often about having a set morning routine inorder to create a productive day.

After a little research, I made a list of the "most common morning habits".

If you imbrace those habits,  it doesn´t mean you will get immediately succesful, but it will help you to achieve your goals better and bring you closer to success.

"Some People Dream About Success While Other People Get Up Every Morning and Make It Happen."

7 Morning Habits of Successful People

1. Wake Up Early

Oprah Winfrey - Wakes up at 06:00 AM

Martha Stewart - Wakes up at 5:00 AM

Michelle Obama - Wakes up at 5:30 AM

Jennifer Aniston - Wakes up at 4:30 AM on workdays

When you wake up before everbody else, you are already 2 steps ahead. You have a few extra hours to accomplish your tasks. It gives you time to start your day relaxed, without rushing.

Now I´m not saying that you have to wake up at 4:30 AM, but make sure you wake up around 5:00-5:30 AM or 3 hours before you have to leave the house.

Tips:

1. Use an alarm clock and not your cell phone. Don´t give yourself any option of snoozing.

2. Don´t check emails or social media as soon as you get up. The focus in the morning should be on you, not on others.

2. Be Grateful

The first thing I do every morning after getting out of bed, is to sit in the living room covered with a blanket and say outloud all the things that I´m grateful for.  You can say it, think it or write it.

Tony Robbins recommends slowing down your breath and thinking of three things you are grateful for, taking a minuet for each.

Oprah writes in her gratitude journal.

Being grateful for all you have, focuses your mind on the positive instead of the negatives that come from wanting what you dont have.

Gratitude is a beautiful energy. When you spread it to the universe, it will send you more things to be grateful for.

3. Meditate

Meditation is a habitual process of training your mind to focus and redirect your thoughts. It helps increase awareness of yourself and your surroundings. It is a way to reduce stress and develop concentration. Meditation improves cognition and increases your ability to perform tasks that require focus.

Start with 5 minutes a day and keep on growing. There are so many free guided meditations online, use them. They are there for you.

Michael Jordan and Arnold Schwarzenegger are just a couple of successful people who meditate everyday.

4.  Exercise

As you can probably guess, I like to start my day with a long Yoga Practice. It gives me the time to reopen my body and reconnect to myself. It gives me the energy that I need for the rest of the day.

You can do some cardio, go out for a walk or even swim. The important thing is that you will do some exercise that you love and are passionat about that gets your endorphins going. If you choos something you don´t really like, you won´t be motivated to get up in the morning and actually do it. Make sure to exercise at least 30 minutes. It will boost your energy level and be more active all day long.

- Hillary Clinton practices 30 minutes of Yoga a day

- Mark Zuckerberg goes for a run with his dog at least 4 times a week.

5. Take A Cold Shower

You don´t want to go out of the hous without first taking a shower after you have exercised, right?

So why not makie your shower even more efficient?

You´re taking a shower, doing your regular thing, and then right before you want to end it and turn off the water, you switch it to cold water. Why should you do that you ask? ´Cause it can do wonders for you!

The sudden rush of cold water speeds up your heart and forces your body to take in more oxygen, waking up your brain at a faster rate.

When you consciously turn the water to cold, you´re training your unconscious that you´re going to take action no matter what throughout the day.

6.  Set Goals For The Day

Some people would mix this part with a "To Do List", which is a long list of things that you have to do. The problem is, that often you will not finish half of those things until the end of the day. When you set your goals for the day, you should think about the 3 most important things that you want to accomplish that day. Be specific. Goals like "working on my website" or "studing for my test" are too general and all over the place. More specific goals like "writing the ´about me´ page" or "studing the 3th chapter" will help you be more focused and productive. Setting these 3 goals before your day starts, moves your day towards a direction of accomplishment.

7. Eat A Healthy Breakfast

And I am not talking about "cornflakes" or something like that. There is a reason why they say that breakfast is the most important meal of the day. It gives your brain and body the energy they need to function better and sty focused. It helps us be energized, pay attention, remember and perform better.

You won´t believe it, but a bowl of cereal causes more damage then you can imagaine. A healthier option is, to consume a meal loaded with vitamins, proteins, minerals, fiber and fatty acids which can do wonders for your body system.

You can get all of it from adding fruits, seeds and vegetables to your meal.

My favorite breakfast is a smoothie, because then I can mix all of the good things in one shake.

Smoothie Example: Banana, Strawberries, Chia seeds, Pumpkin seeds, Tahin, Oat and Water.

A shake full of vitamins, proteins, minerals and fiber.

Everyone is an individual. Arrange your morning routine to what is best for you (and not to what is easiest for you) is the number 1 key to success.

Those habits transformed me from a billion-times-snoozing-person to a best-functioning-morning-person.

These successful people defenitely know what they are talking about. Try it!  It might be a little hard at the beginning, but if you want to see results, the key is commitment. Lose a bit of of sleep and gain a whole different and better way to start your day.
